Hola Nacionalistas,

We’ve got a new release out today from Los Macuanos, a DJ trio from Tijuana who have been generating a ton of buzz for their futuristic fusion of traditional Latin rhythms and modern electronic dance beats.

Los Macuanos’ debut album “El Origen” is now available on iTunes and Amazon.

The group has already been featured at NPR, PRI/BBC’s The World, MTV Iggy and Vice, who described them as the “Mexican Kraftwerk.” They’ve also recently had music featured in Indio Beer ads. Check out this quick album preview video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gcezr_0AHgk

Los Macuanos belong to a generation of producers that came of age in a violent and rapidly-changing political climate in Tijuana, Mexico. Like many of their contemporaries, their productions echo a once hedonistic lifestyle, taking cues from the rave styles of the era, with elements of minimal techno, dubstep and glitch. Their music has since evolved with a more nuanced, stylistic approach that incorporates live instrumentation and elements of cumbia and norteño.

Los Angeles radio station just premiered an exclusive album stream, which you listen to here: http://www.kcrw.com/music/programs/ap/ap131118los_macuanos_el_orig

Also, Los Amigos Invisibles’ vocalist Julio Briceño’s new side project Chulius & The Filarmónicos’ ‘Shorts & Sandals’ is now on iTunes and debuts today with an exclusive premiere at Pandora.
