Spanish Bombs + The Clash in London
Check out this article about the Spanish Bombs - The Clash Tribute Concert, that some of our friends are in London for currently:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/music/rockandpopmusic/5129826/Spanish-Bombs-The-Clash-tribute-concert.html
Spanish Bombs will feature classic Clash songs reworked by a host of Latin-rock and hip-hop luminaries [including Toy Selectah], including Mexican mega-band Café Tacuba, Tex-Mex punk-rocker Alejandro Escovedo, Jonaz of group Plastilina Mosh and Blanquito Man of New York Latin-ska pioneers King Chango.
Speaking of The Clash, someone sent this photo yesterday in light of all the “Swine-Flu” madness:

Lyrics from ‘Spanish Bombs’:
Spanish bombs, yo te quiero infinito
Yo te quiero, oh mi corazon
Spanish bombs, yo te quiero infinito
Yo te quiero, oh mi corazon

HILARIOUS! The film, Rudo Y Cursi will be released nation-wide on May 8th. Nacional Records is releasing the soundtrack exclusively on iTunes on May 5th and in-stores on June 9th.
The soundtrack also features indie rock favorites like Juana Molina, The Black Lips, and Devendra Banhart performing their own versions of Regional Mexican classics. Saul Hernandez (Jaguares) round out the soundtrack’s highlights with their own takes on some of their homeland’s most recognizable songs.

Mic Check: M.I.S. on NPR’s The World - Swine Flu + Soy Sauce!
“Um, well I would pick from my new record called Soy Sauce, I would pick “Cumbia” which is the opening track on it. Because I think Mexico City needs some positive energy, especially today that we’re suffering this terrible news. So I would say that would be a happy track.”
So here’s a little anti-swine flu music, from Mexico’s own Camilo Lara, better known as the Mexican Institute of Sound.
For The World, I’m Marco Werman.

ARTIST BLOG: Eric Bobo - My Coachella Experience
Getting to Coachella, I didn’t realize that I would be on the hottest day of the festival. As draining as the sun was, it was great to see people having a great time whether they were just waking up, hung-over or recovering from something else. There were so many things to check out and so much music. They were even selling vinyl records!! A personal highlight of mine was to be able to see M.I.S., Public Enemy, and The Cure & Roni Size all on the same day, at the same place. Coachella is a great opportunity to see new bands, old favorites and even Latin-alternative artists like M.I.S. I would hope that next year, I could perform with my group and once again be a part of the Coachella experience.
Saludos y mas musica,

Radio Check: RH+ on Latino USA [NPR]
Listen: http://latinousa.kut.org/wp-content/lusaaudio/837_seg02.mp3
Think “Latin Music,” and electronica is a genre that generally does not come readily to mind. But RH+ is not your typical dance club fare. Critics have praised this Chilean band not only for its blend of beats, but for staying true to a dreamy smoothness as opposed to a techno-hard edge. Formed in 2004 under the original name “Rock Hudson,” RH+ has a new CD out titled “Quintana Roo.” Most of the tracks from this Latin American band are done in English. That’s not for marketing, say band members. That’s just how the music comes out. Band Member Fernando LaSalvia speaks to Maria Hinojosa from the groups studio in Chile.
